Plus the social media presence where some folk have condemned the behaviour over the years. Where women over time have been directed to places like toilets to feed their babies, yes, literally sit on the toilet to feed your child.

There was an incident in Sainsbury's car park a couple of weeks ago.

A lady was breastfeeding in her car in the car park.

A staff member told her it was inappropriate and that she had to stop.

Sainsbury's later apologised.

It was all over the news

I breastfed all of mine and never encountered any issues. People tended to politely look away, sometimes looking slightly embarrassed.

But it is difficult, especially when it's your first one. It requires confidence. Plus it's trickier in the winter when you have to get through lots of layers in order to get to your nipple

I was just about to say it's the equivalent of calling someone a fat whore when they get turned down on here. How DARE these women get their boobs out (their boobs that can't be seen anyway coz the back of the babies head is in the way) for someone who is not me, the man.

As for women who scold other women for it... wtf? I can only assume some kind of insecurity that your man is gonna catch a glimpse of side boob and that's it, you've now lost his heart to the woman feeding her child.

I would say it was me that was more conscious of her & the baby and trying not to look in her direction was difficult.

The more commonplace it becomes the better. If anyone trys to sexualise it they should be villified and charged by the police.

Unfortunately the sexualisation of women continues in the football When Kelly removed her shirt Linekar didn't comment on her excitement and joy at that moment but her bra, tweet now removed. Men ,particularly, do not know how to behave, on here how often are there comments in chat rooms like "get your tits out" "are you shaved or hairy" as the first thing said to women , would they be like that in their local pub meeting a woman for the first time,?

For many woman breastfeeding is not considered but bottle from birth because it might affect their breasts.

We went to a holiday park in may and whilst in the swimming centre 2 different women were breast feeding, I don't see anything wrong with it but it makes me a little uncomfortable as I don't want them to think I was watching.

I think is largely the issue. Some people just can't handle it (for various reasons) but instead of recognizing it as their own problem the attention is placed on the mother.

My wife never had any issues. People were generally very friendly when our kids were babies.

We are part of a site where adults sexualise each other , of all genders , constantly, to varying degrees and sometimes conflicting views on what’s acceptable , vulgar, kinky etc . One persons kink is another’s offence - in here at least.

I didn't care for the opinions of the narrow minded.

I used to keep mine hungry for flights and feed them at take off and landing to stop their ears popping. Believe me, the passengers around a baby were grateful for the lack of screaming.

I lived in Italy and the attitudes there are completely different. I had people pinch the cheek of my bambino while he was feeding. It's all just part of loving life and accepting what comes naturally.

I don't give a shit if she has to feed the child so be it I had one not back sit next to me said I have to feed my Brest feed my child are ok with it I said go ahead and turned to one side to give privacy though she did it without me being embarrassed and said thank you for turn round I quite alright end of the day you have to feed your child as where we was no shops or toilets so had no option to do so I don't have a problem

Not sure that is particularly surprising. Plenty of women find a man's hands and forearms look sexy while they're doing DIY but no one complains about that. I'm also fairly sure that just because one person doesn't think something is sexy the rest of humanity has to agree. I don't particularity find women's feet sexy but there's lots who do. If we're talking bodily functions, it's it wrong to find the way someone looks when they're glisten with sweat sexy simply because it's a bodily function with a totally non sexual purpose? What about people who like watersports or scat?

When women stop noticing things a man is doing and finding it sexy then they can complain about the same in reverse.

This is of course a totally different issue to behaving in a way that makes it clear you're sexualising a person's body/activities. Again this cuts both ways though I accept that in general men are less intimidated by this than women.

I was in the garden center with my 2 year old who loves babies. She wasn't too keen on the plants and was getting bored and angsty. When a lady carrying her baby came along, smiling we exchanged parenting quips and I picked my daughter up so she could see the baby. I didn't realise she was feeding when I leaned over and came far too close to be comfortable. I was immediately embarrassed and apologised profusely, however the lady found my reaction hilarious.

I’ve never seen the problem that people seem to have with breast feeding, I can only guess it because the only time they are out is in porno vids and mags, and when having sex generally and any exposure is considered crude at best, whiles in other countries where topless bathing, men n women being in same saunas naked are the norm I guess they don’t have as much of the same problem

Unfortunately I have seen a woman have a go at another woman for breastfeeding in a café. This was about 8 years ago when I was working in a friend's café to help them out. A young woman came in with a small baby, Ordered a drink and then started breastfeeding. I went over and asked if she need anything and gave her a cushion. She was happily breastfeeding then an older lady Looked over at her and told her she was disgusting and should do that in the toilet! My boss went over and asked the older lady to leave but the poor lady breastfeeding burst into tears and said that it had happened before.

I can see why some would feel uncomfortable as others look at it in disgust and will voice that it shouldn't be done in public.

And yes you can be conscious of a guy looking and getting a stiffy over a flash of boobs.

When I breast fed I didn't give a fuck where, when or who was looking. Its a shame women worry about what people think in this, but they wouldn't if people kept their opinions to themselves and just respected others are different.

Being serious momentarily, I was shamed for breastfeeding my son in a café, 20yrs ago. I was 16. The only other person in the café at the time was an older man. He obviously complained (despite choosing to sit facing me) and I was told (not asked) to feed him in the toilet. I refused and never returned to that café and even though it's changed hands, I still won't go in.

I never had any issues when breastfeeding my daughter, who is now 5. I don't know if being obviously disabled with baby no.2 shut people up or whether things had just moved on. I did get lots of supportive comments from little old ladies, who wanted to tell me how much they wished they'd had the same freedoms.

How would they know Tom?

I mean women do know some things and at times can appear almost psychic with their partners, but they haven't yet reached a level where if they wanted to 'shame' other women with babies they actually could..

Even if they wanted to which they don't as mum's have a bit of an affinity with other mums in my experience..
