What if life was just like a park and ride?

What if our initial journey was to the massive car park that is purgatory and then we're all waiting to get on a bus to the promised land?

Have you thought about that?

I have a son and don't want him to think badly of me. I don't want be the reason he needs therapy.

The meaning? For me it's making it to the end, going "home" and being thankful to get back there.

I also think that the meaning is love.

We forget to share that love as we grow. We take things for granted. We become greedy. We become selfish.

We kill because it suits us, because we don't want bugs in our living space, or because that lamb is gonna taste nice.

The older I get the more I think we were put here to experience love of all things, yet, we turn bad. A bit like the first time you get left in the family home alone, and instead of showing respect and consideration, you have a house party or do other stuff you shouldn't be doing. That's humans. Then at the end we go back to "source" and get eye rolled at, told to try again, and boom. Reborn into another cycle of bullshit greed and ego.

I think humans are quite arrogant in that we all assume we have a purpose a reason for being here. Basically we mostly have a biological imperative to continue the species in much the same way an ant does. We're at the top of the food chain for now but that can easily change and the way things are going probably will.

However to answer your question I think it’s about striving to be the best you can be. To leave the world better than it was when you came into it even if that’s in small ways like just being a decent human being

Probably because Mr KC is amazing and I adore him and I quite like my kids too (even though having kids destroyed my body to the point of disability).

It's not about anything. There is zero point to my existence. However, 3.5 billion years of evolution have ensured that the complex chemical reactions we call life behave in such a way that the human body is to all intents designed to fight for survival.

Unfortunately, 3.5 billon years of evolution didn't do a lot to select for a desire to survive when life doesn't require a fight. Now that for the vast majority of humans in Western cultures there is no need to fight to survive against genuinely life threatening situations like famine, war or the like we're left with people who have far less need to struggle to survive and far less need to be physically active simply to get by than any previous generation. I'm not convinced we're particularly well adapted to it.

At the same time our increasing scientific knowledge has eroded the once universal belief in gods and we're left facing a world we weren't designed to live in without the psychological crutch we once relied on to answer our existential questions. Pretty much all we have left is a universal drive to simply keep going. I am one of the fortunate ones who, despite a nasty hiccup a few years back, has a generally positive outlook and is able to find enjoyment if not any meaning in life.

Mr

Just be the best you can, change should to could, yesterday's gone and tomorrow nevers comes as it becomes today.

As humans we spend so much time trying to please others, trying to be what we think they want us to be. At 60 now realise probably spent at least half of it trying be something I'm not or ever was, honestly folks be yourself and if prole don't like it then they not worthy of being with you.

There is no "meaning of life", as Mrs Nicecouple already explained. My personal motivation for keeping going changes depending on the state of my MH. Being responsible for providing love, security and guidance to two young people is always there, however ill I get. When I'm well, just waking up in the morning and having the opportunity to delight in being alive and experience the world is my incentive. Not a "meaning" or sense of purpose, as such, just a contented acceptance of being.
