The real question is do you let the toast cool at all before putting the butter on or do you like it going all soggy?

Personally I do the “toast tent” thing and prop up two slices of toast against each other tent style so they cool quicker lol

The only time I put butter on toast is if I am having buttered toast.

If I'm having jam, then it will be just jam & toast. No butter.

Bacon roll ? Bacon and bread. No butter.

Marmite ? Just Marmite and toast.

Nutella ? Just Nutella and toast.

Essentially, if there is going to be a layer on something on toast, or something sandwiched in bread, I do not like another superfluous layer of butter either side of it, or under it. Seems pointless. I find it also ruins and comingles with the flavour of the primary topping.

So the jam or Nutella now tastes of butter.

I don't find butter to be a complimentary taste if another ingredient is involved.

Or black like my Dad used to like, and he'd scrape the carbon off it (which I definitely don't like).

My eldest takes the loss out of my youngest for his toast. He say he might aswell lust warm the bread up with his breath because his toast is so pale.

I hate it when you go out and ask for well done toast and they still bring out out hardly toasted like lukewarm bread. The clue is in the name, toast the blooming thing. I used to go with it but now I always send it back if it's not toasted properly.

Ok so this is slightly different but when I make my toast I put the margarine on first and put in the grill not toaster an this gives the toast a crispy crunchy taste rather then the soft squidgy taste you normally get. Does anyone else do this of not please do try it
