The role I like playing is helping the hubby keep his lady satisfied. Don’t get why I need to pretend to be a Dr or a teacher to do that.

Not that I or Mrs Soze go for role play much……I do understand that for some, it’s a way of putting distance/barriers between their everyday lives, and enjoying multiple sex partners.

It’s about fantasy scenarios. Playing them out in a safe environment can be fun

This

Maybe someone is turned on by the thought of being medically examined by a doctor or nurse? They can hardly just rock up at A&E and expect it to happen.

Perhaps it's the idea of paying a plumber, sparky or any other tradey in kind?

Maybe they like a fireman's uniform. Short of setting fire to your own house and then hoping some hunky fireman comes and rescues you before you burn to death then role play is your best bet.

Sometimes it's about control. Other times it's separating reality from fantasy. It can also be a very personal and specific kink. Everyone is different and role play adds variety.

It does ratger depend on the role play in question. If you give me an example, I think you'll find you've answered your own question.

I am not very good at the whole role play thing and every time I have tried I just come out of character and either laugh (which apparently is a bit of a no no) or just fail at the whole thing and end up being me (which is also apparently a bit of a no no in these scenarios).

Genuinely interested in how people get “into character”.

Roleplaying isn't for everyone - if it makes you laugh, you can't keep a straight face maybe it isn't.

You don't have to dive straight into it, maybe discuss your fantasies, see if there's something you'd like to lightly explore. Choose a character that's not too dissimilar from who you are, add a bit of embellishment and away you go.

If it's like a boss and receptionist, set it up so the scene feels like that. You don't have to say really cheesy lines but just letting go and going with the flow helps.

I've only done it a few times successfully a few years ago, not tried it since then.
