Apparently on average 58 tigers are killed by poachers every year. They're losing on aggregate.

With a population of nearly 30 million people that's an incredibly low risk. I'd imagine if you wanted to cut the death rate in Nepal you'd have far greater success with something like increased health care facilities than getting rid of tigers. Ultimately its a choice the people of that country need to make. Are they prepared to accept a tiny tiny percentage of deaths in exchange for not just keeping tigers from extinction but jobs and income funded by eco tourism? Income that can be used by their government to fund education and health care that will save far more lives than those lost to tigers.

Given that one of their biggest tourism draws at the moment is high altitude climbing and the death toll associated with that I'm going to suggest a few tiger related deaths, no matter how desperately sad they are for the families concerned, are likely to be considered a price worth paying.

It's a comms issue. The Nepal people haven't told enough *other* Nepal people that there are now rewilded tigers, and people are no longer apex predators.

Some sort of advertising campaign is needed - our government seems to specialise in three word slogans, so maybe that approach could be used...

TIGERS. NEARBY. RUN!!!!

Maybe all the tiger extinction preventers should go and live in the tiger food chain and the rest of us can live in a tiger free environment . I don’t want to be part of an endangered creatures food chain!

Run, really, have you watched cats, they rairly pounce until their pray moves.

Given the beliefs of most in the region, and hopefully those that have got into taxis in India will back me up on this, TIGERS. NEARBY. PRAY!!! Might work better especially if you can pray long and hard without moving too much or taking your eyes off the tiger(s).

It's dead simple, issue everyone with tiger repellent spray.

Maybe chilli powder grenades would work, they apparently do for elephants and most mammals seem to show common effects from it. If someone disperesed finely ground chilli in my face I would run away from them, probably in a really random direction bouncing off everything because I can't really see where I'm going any longer. I certainly felt like this when I got accidentally exposed to low concentration tear gas.

I’m guessing the cats were either hungry or scared?

But it’s safe to assume they won’t be using the human penis to make medication for Tiger Erection Disfunction.

I’m team Tiger.
