I think because if someone opens their mouth to smile and behind the smile is grim, it is an instant yuck!

If you think about it, if you were to kiss them, and they had shocking teeth, that's all I could/would think about

BleUrgh! hate piano teeth! Thing is if they look rank, there's a good chance they'll smell rank.

I'm not bothered about uneven teeth, or slightly crooked teeth so long as they are clean and looked after

Bad teeth really do make want to vomit, I cant bear it. I work with a lovely guy but oh my god, he only has half a set of teeth and they look like squashed fag nubs. Turns my stomach every time I speak to him. Why would you not get FALSE ones? I dont profess to have a Hollywood smile but they aren't brown! Its a stipulation on the end of my profile, so I am totally with you on this!!

Well bad dental hygiene means decay, bad breath, abscesses etc and teeth wouldn't get in this state if a hygiene regime was iin place.

I'm not keen on supernumerary teeth, ie, teeth in the gums, why don't people gp to the dentist and get them sorted, they look freaky. Not keen on sticking out teeth or very large gapped teeth.

I am glad that I've never had to have orthodontic treatment and my teeth are straight, but if they had been crooked then I would have them sorted.

Admittedly it can be expensive, if you're working that is, but your smile is the main focus on your face and its nice to have good teeth

Admittedly, a lot of people can't work out why I don't smile properly and it's because I'm currently missing a canine! I slipped in the shower about a year ago and knocked it out but I can't afford the £6000 for an implant and my dentist keeps putting off making me a bridge, even though my teeth are apparently healthy and I have no oral hygeine issues?

As a 23 year old woman they don't seem to understand how much it affects my confidence. It doesn't bother me who knows, but hey, that's why I don't smile.

Biggest turn off - bad teeth and bad breath, I would rather go without holidays or a car than not having all my teeth in good shape. It is probably the most important thing for me right after personality and brains.

Teeth freak the fuck outta me though. If I think about what I'm doing when brushing my teeth, or toothpaste touches my tongue I gag. I gag when I have to spit the toothpaste out, can't have anyone in the room with me when I do my teeth and I can't stand hearing someone do theirs as it makes me feel so sick

A couple of terrible dentist experiences as a kid made me avoid the place for years but the dentist is rather impressed with my teeth, considering. They're not actually bad but I hate showing them off when I smile

I dont expect people to have perfect Hollywood teeth and a few irregularities are totally fine. What I find offputting are gaping holes and brown teeth that look as if they have not see a toothbrush in a while.

I had a 10y or so gap before visiting a dentist after my root canal treatment and had my tooth capped.

One of the old fillings started to chipped so I went to have it seen to, and was told I needed the tooth with the cap on taken out asap, as I had been walking around with an abscess for at least 3y or so without realising!

They also found gum disease, and I needed to visit the hygienist every 3 months.

And the chipped filling was the last of their worries (now fixed).

On a dental plan now for quarterly hygienist visit and a yearly check up.

There are some wonderful dental surgeons around and, like doctors, you need to feel comfortable to discuss and undergo treatment. There are lots of different treatments that can be offered without having an implant.

I know, but as I'm young I would like something a bit more permanent.

I have been told that they can try and pull the teeth either side in to close the gap a little, but then you've still GOT the gap and are creating two other gaps around those two teeth.

I may just be being a fussy bugger, lol.

As I said, I would be happy with a bridge or something that just attaches to the other teeth but for some reason they keep putting it off. I'll go in, they'll have a look and go "Ok, come back next time", go again "Ok, we'll start moulding for the bridge on your next visit", go AGAIN, "We'll start moulding for your bridge on the next visit". They're not worried about anything and aren't doing any work when I go there but are charging me for the visits, so obviously I've had enough and am now looking for a new dentist. x

I'm sure it isn't as bad as you think, we all get overly self conscious but yes I'd look into changing your dentist if you really are unhappy about it

for me your face is your front man as so to speak, its in the public eye all the time as its never covered, people look at it whenever your talking and its mostly at peoples eye level, so if someone cant even keep the bit of themself that everyone sees clean what the hells the rest of them like?

miss shapen teeth cant be helped, but bad oral hygiene....theres just no excuse for and bad teeth and bad breath usually come hand in hand
