"Crib Gock needs treating with respect. Someone fell from there and died last December. " That happens with depressing regularity. The scrambling on Crib Goch is not technically difficult, it's the lowest grade of scrambling there is and we'll within the physical capability of most people. However there is a lot of exposure- places where a fall will have serious if not fatal consequences) and it is very committing - that is there is no escape from the route, you either finish it or down climb what you've done. It is also reasonably long - particularly as there is a decent stretch of lower grade stuff up Crib-y-Ddysgl just when you think you've finished giving a total of around a kilometre of the kind of terrain most people will feel uncomfortable on. More recently there is the added danger of crowding. There's a semi permanent queue that forms around the most exposed section just after the pinnacles (and pretty much any other tricky bits) which encourages people to take a harder line so as not to have to wait 20 mins while someone clearly out of their depth moves 10 meters. Despite all this it remains one of the best grade 1 scrambles in the country and its popularity is understandable. Mr

"Been up Miners and Pyg but don’t think the Llanberis path will be easy either. The first couple of miles will really test you. Never done Crib Goch (check out YouTube for a video called ‘stuck on Crib Goch, Snowdon’) but during the summer it’s regarded as a tough and dangerous route but with care it’s possible. However during winter you’d definitely be taking a big risk. The cafe at the top is well worth a visit (if it’s open) and a good place to shelter. Enjoy " I've heard the cafe is closed all year this year due to work being done on the train tracks so they're not running to the top meaning staff/supplies can't be taken up.
