I do a half n half plateful.

Half covered in salt n vinegar, the other half get curry sauce.

I can’t be doing with choices between the two greatest chip accompaniments.

I obviously have no soul - I don't like chips I just don't "get" them - greasy lumps of mushy potato that only really taste of whatever one puts on them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not chippist - my wife likes them and they come in some form in pretty much every restaurant or cafe I've been, so I've tried one of every type she's ever had but, to me, the only purpose they seem to serve is to "pad out" a meal. Definitely not for me.

Depends whether it is a "proper" chip or not.

Proper chips are not fried in oil, they are not twice or triple cooked by boiling in water first nor are they ever frozen then baked in an oven.

Proper chips are thick cut from floury potatoes (King Edward, Maris Piper, Desiree, Rooster etc.) then deep-fried in animal fat (lard or dripping). They only need salt and vinegar because they taste too damn good to ruin with a sauce.
