When it comes to screwing, sometimes you need to be delicate and have some finesse, and other times you need that hardwood to stay where it is….

So, my question is what is preferred. Flat head / Philips / Pozi / Torx ?

Definitely Pozi, flats are an invention of a sadist.

Mind you I do have a magic screwdriver that works with Pozi and Phillips. Any Phillips screws I take out of anything get replaced with Pozi if possible.
