Re-watching Californication and there is quote that resonated with me as sometimes people don't engage through nervousness and end up missing out.

“A morning of awkwardness is better than a night of loneliness.”

Would you agree or disagree with this?

Being alone doesn’t necessarily mean you are lonely.

But if it means genuine loneliness then yes I agree.

How awkward is it?

'I can't remember your name'awkward or ' OMG you're my best friends husband ' awkward.

Probably the "oh morning, did that just happen" kinda awkwardness

I hope never to be in that position but I've seen what loneliness does to a person. I'd probably choose the awkward morning.

Does this statement mean it's better to have spent the night with someone you feel awkward with, instead of loneliness?

I'll take loneliness rather awkwardness.

Having one night with someone won't dispel long term loneliness, and might make you feel worse when that person is gone.

I'd take the loneliness. It's better than feeling like you gave your body away to some twat. I know what both feel like.

I avoid the awkwardness by not sleeping with people. Just sex for the sake of sex.

I read it as it could be better to act on something and feel awkward than wonder what could have been.

It's good to get a different perspective on the quote though and I do agree that no fling is a fix long term loneliness and should not be taken lightly.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I haven't rewatched Californication, but my memory of it would incline me to disagree with the statement.

Such temporary relief of loneliness, perhaps accompanied with awkward regret, feels like a recipe for a deep dive into the black hole of the soul.

Also, I'm not sure I can just use another body as a quick fix for loneliness. Although, I am haappy to use a willing body for a quick fix for horniness.

I like my awkwardness at the beginning, build from there and have enough connection to navigate future awkward moments.

I'd pick a lonely night over awkwardness any day. But being alone doesn't mean loneliness, I have some of my best days when people fuck off.
