Risk of living alone

I have lived alone most of my life, especially the last 26 years. I also at times don't know my neighbours that well.

I could not help but think on things when reading the news report of the elderly lady who lay dead for 2 and a half years before being discovered.

For that to happen in this day and age seems unreal

I don't really know my neighbours. Didnt at my last place.

I doubt they know anything real about me.

Unfortunately it does happen in this day and age.. More than you'd think

I have amazing neighbours, always have done in any house I have lived in. Mine notice if I don't bring the bins in, don't fill the bird feeders up, if I am not home from work by a certain time. As a group of houses, we knock on each others doors without hesitation.

From what I read, the neighbours did report in strange smells etc and concern, but there was some mis communication so the police didn’t check on her.

I have lived alone in a top floor flat for the best part of 9 years, I've got a hard job trying trying to beat some of ma neighbours off with a shitty stick sometimes

Agreed but lessons need to be learnt

That's pretty sad really, most people have a mobile phone these days. There was a young lady (aged 35) in the flat next to me who passed away a couple of years ago from a pulmonary embolism, I spent nigh on 2 weeks in the DRI with one of those and am lucky to be alive, she called the Medics, but unfortunately they were too late to save her
