"Obviously it’s Shakespeare but which is anyone’s fav Aulden " I think they’re completely different so I don’t think you can really compare? Personally I think Shakespeare wrote some great plays/sonnets - and some not so great. When it comes to Poetry I’m fond of Elizabeth Barrett Browning. | |||

I'm sure they're right If the barely literate population in 16th/17th century England could understand him, there's no excuse in the 21st century. Not that that makes him that interesting, though!" I suspect they understood him because he spoke the English of the time. I can't read Chaucer without a reference book by my side eitner | |||

I'm sure they're right " I think Shakespeare is far easier to understand if you watch the plays rather than reading them. Hated studying him at school, but love seeing performances. | |||
