It has never simply been just missionary just as much as it's never been just female and male.

Erotica has always existed in mind and stone long before paper and celluloid sadly erotica has given way to porn and most modern porn depicts the debasement of others. Porn , to a large extent, goes to extremes. It seems now there has to be degradation or painful acts which is made easier through the dehumanisation of people.

My parents married in the fifties sex before marriage was certainly frowned on but it didn't stop it going on.

As were most societies. Sex wasn't owned then or a commercial commodity. A study of ancient Greeks shows just how open , sexually people were.

I have no idea about past porn. But definitely younger people seem to be so experienced in sex asking for all sorts of things that wouldn't cross my mind at their age. I heard from one of my young friends that men love deep throat/gagging/throat sex. One poor girl had an infection from it as it was too rough but felt really pressurised by the men she met. I see these kinds of comments a lot about porn and I always wonder if they're made by people who don't actually view porn or I'm just very different and whatever cookies end up on my device are abnormal. Do I get suggested videos that contain debasement, degradation and painful acts? Yeah, occasionally, are these themes even common, never mind a necessary part of the porn I see? Not in the slightest.

I am not even a fan of anal which I suppose some may view as degrading and painful if you ignore the fact that lots of women like it, but even that isn't there to a large extent nor does it need to be.

If you want degrading porn then sure it exists. If you want pork that portrays consensual enjoyable sex there's plenty of that too.

OP, this kind of question tends to get answers that tell you far more about people's attitudes to things like sex and the modern world than they do about actual issues. The idea that the world was a better place, people were more respectful, life was more wholesome and safer in the past is universal and occurs in all generations. Personally I pay as much attention to statements that start with 'Internet porn has done ..." as I do to the good old "when I was a lad"

The ancients realised variety was the spice of life and helped to invigorate long term relationships.

Porn can be very one sided and lead to some odd attitudes- as mentioned rough throat sex being normal. Learning with a partner can help with balance (not gymnastics- though it might ....communications as ever is the key in my view.
