Schools not out yet for all in this country.

"Pros - I get 7 weeks with my kids

Cons - I get 7 weeks with my kids "

The ability to afford 7 weeks off work to be with the kids must be nice. Yet the thought of having to spend 7 weeks with the kids makes me glad I can't afford it.

Nothing really changes for us. Holiday club is at the same site as school and will be using it most weeks because we have to work at this time of year (in education!)

Oh. Well in that case. I apologise for my assumption. I truly do feel for you and pray for your survival both physically and mentally.

Blink twice if you need help.

The only con is trying to find childcare while we’re at work. We’ve got a little bit of time off so over this period so the biggest pro is getting to spend some extended time together as a family.

I get they can be annoying at times. I was a kid once. But if I knew my parents dreaded spending time with me I'd be horrified! Especially if it was because they couldn't fuck random strangers on the internet

My kids annoy the life out of me but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Even when I’m pulling my hair out I cherish every moment with them.

I personally think that the school holiday system is out dated, especially the summer break which was created so kids could help with the harvest.

I would love to see schools take on a "Book your own holidays" system like industry does. Obviously there would need to be rules, but it would even out the sudden rise in holiday prices for holidays when the schools break up.

The teaching profession wouldn't go for it, as most really enjoy getting that six week break. In reality though, having a protected holiday would give them more free time than the current system where there is expectation for them to work during the "school holidays".

I agree to a certain extent but missing 2 weeks of education is a lot. I missed about a month due to illness and when I was about 14 and I was so far behind on certain subjects when I got back.

Why must they dread it? I love having my kids at home. I dont get the full holidays/ every weekend etc as I share custody with their dad so I've got 4 weeks to fill with amazing memories and then it's his turn.

No cons here.

For the kids? How would that work? they would all be off at different times, missing different lessons. That doesn't make any sense.

Yep that way wouldn’t work at all. Organising lessons would be a nightmare!

Milton Keynes

Pros. Being able to drive to work in 40 minutes rather than an hour 40 minutes

I really don’t understand why this is as I leave for work at 6am and at work before kids even start school

So why is traffic less ??

Because a lot of people drive earlier Siri g term time to avoid the madness.

We are 3 weeks in already. It's ok I suppose, I've not had to dial emergency services yet and nobody's been arrested

No day time meets is the only downfall. We are lucky enough to have grandparents living around the corner so evening fun is still allowed

That would be a logistical nightmare on a number of levels.

Not just couples. I'm a single mum and my kids all at home with me now for six weeks.

Pros: much more relaxed, no rushing them to school, stress about exams subsides, get to have days out together

Cons: the mess, the amount of food they eat and the sibling bickering

Because people take time off from the morning commute to look after their children. Bizarre or what

They also try to get off this island in to another island for at least a week. Unless they're going to France this weekend

There are schools that operate different schools holiday structures, not private schools, they have 5 school terms of 8 weeks each ending with 2 weeks off, then 4 weeks off in the summer.
