Are you the type of person who can behave when needed? A Jedi in the streets, with in the sheets type of person?

Or are you just not safe no matter where you are? You know, you act irresponsible and say the wrong things etc? Falling in the garden pond after 12 pints.

My in law as always said I was quite and mature…

They never knew me and never came out in the town. Always family gatherings and such, so I knew when to behave.

Family always seem to love me.

(Especially the older relatives as I eat all the food they prepare)

In fact my ex's family told me I'm always welcome with them no matter what, and started sagging my ex off because of her behaviour

I think we just suppress certain parts of our personality when appropriate. An ability to read the room, know your audience and act accordingly can be useful.

There have been times though when I've thought 'if only you knew'

Mr did that one year with one of his mates, the next year he didn't (the year we got together as teenagers and were to busy) and the house got trashed, he was always held in high esteem with their parents after that.

Years ago, took a couple I was meeting to our regular nightclub we all used to frequent, including my mother.

4 weeks later, I found husband and mother were having an affair.

Couple split up, he moved in with us, leading to many fistie fights.

An 18 month nightmare I'll never repeat.

I think it can be relied upon to be appropriate and charming in company, but if relatives make bigoted comments I will be unlikely to stay quiet. My ex's dad made some quite horrible assertions about gay men and refugees - I didn't let them slide.
