I accept that climate change is a thing and we need to do something about it. It also presents opportunity and green energy need to overtake fossil fuels asap.

It made me surprised that people think;

a) it's a new thing

b) that we can really do much about it

Is global warming real and something we should be worried about ?

The good news is that all this extra solar being generated will surely bring down the fuel bills... right?

No due to weve had worse of a heatwave

these was the unbearable heat, lack of sleep periods that just built the heat up more and more over months

1976 was clearly exceptional on other measures: in the summer of 1976, somewhere reached the 90s (32C) for 15 consecutive days from 23 June and 7 July (before or since there has been no such spell longer than give days over 90F in a row). There were 3 consecutive days over 35C (26-28th June).

In 1995, in addition to 7 days over 31C, on 32C was reached on 6 consecutive days from 29th July-3rd August .

ive seen Scammonden Reservoir low water levels on these occasions.

Yes, because I work outdoors, which is excruciating in this heat, and it's going to happen with regularity in years to come. Just to focus in on one point, I read that a global temperature rise of just 2°C will kill all the beech trees in the UK, as well as many other species. I can't imagine a British Isles Springtime without beech trees and bluebells underneath. How fucking depressing.

Only in baby photos

I didn’t give climate change any more thought as we do get the odd mini heatwave - they never last long enough though!

Erm....yeah. There were lots of wildfire signs back then. I was 4, but remember getting sunburnt in the Peak District and my mum having to use a standpipe

Little clacton

Only when the media tries to blame everyday ppl for it..When it's mainly down to governments and big corporations..

Technology is more than advanced enough to have green energy,and for everyone to basically have free/at cost electric..But will never happen because they all earn billions upon billions from us
