Locate the fire exits.

Look at the last tested dates on the fire extinguishers.

Memorise and familiarise the layout.

Get to room, read the fire evac plan on the back of the door.

Read the in room services guide.

Give room once over.

Check toilet / fixtures / fittings (Toilet flushes, taps work, aircon works, doors all lock, windows are secure, etc).

Last time I was wondering why none of the lights were turning on and thought I was given a dud room. Went down to reception to ask if they could take a look and when they did, they asked for my key card and inserted it into the slot to make all the lights work. I was mortified
