Might it be an idea if everyone sorted out their garden hoses and readied them in case a small grass fire were to start near your home.

Not wishing to be alarmist in ANY way, just prepared.

And yes, I know it's just a garden hose, but several together just might stop a small grass fire from becoming a house or street fire.

Good call as long as it doesn't mean people delay calling the fire services because they believe they can contain it themselves

Noted , so people first of all make that call, then and only then, try to tackle the fire without putting yourselves at risk until the professionals arrive. Then keep our firemen hydrated, they're all worth their weight in gold.

Valid point, happens too often that people think they can deal with what they perceive to be something small which can quickly get away from them..

Also, if in doubt whether a fire has been called in, do so..

Let's just hope they can carry on working through this heatwave.

Very good idea, especially after seeing the footage of the fire on the London/Essex border earlier. But as others have said, stay safe and dont be a hero.

" But as others have said, stay safe and dont be a hero."

As I myself made clear in my third post. Self preservation is paramount.
