Anyone lighting a bonfire in this weather should be taken away for an injection of common sense then shut in an enclosed greenhouse for the afternoon.

Yes probably the above also apply, we should all take care not to do anything at the moment that may cause people to close their windows, probably includes shutting down radio 1 for the duration lol and please check I don't have the grandchildren around before you start having loud sex I would not like to have to close the windows while that is going on lol.

I wrongly thought you were concerned about forest fires and wild fires starting

My windows are all closed. Closed to keep heat out, open to let cool air in.

My neighbours can set fire to anything they like.

BBQ or Fire pit is not a smelly, smokey old bonfire, which is what OP I think is getting out, especially with so many people outside and doors/windows open.

We have a constant problem with someone round here and an incinerator that they sometimes leave burning for days. It's unpleasant, makes the washing smell, the house smell and at this time of year is a much higher fire risk. God knows what they're burning

I was presuming he meant fire risk from embers as everywhere so dry

No idea about the good ole u s of a though.

Having outside fires as in burning garden waste is banned here every summer and carry’s a €200+ fine.

Belfast

Imagine living over here and how controversial bonfires are.

An world record attempt to build the tallest bonfire ever resulted in it being assembled in a residential area where it dwarfed the surrounding houses and was at least 3 times the height of a semi-detached house.

And then a man who was described locally as a bonfire builder fell from another and died.

Common sense and reason go out the window when statements have to be made.

Apologies 4 July was a typo. CBS said fireworks were cancelled in 20 towns including Bouches-du-Rhône and Gard

Manchester (she/her)

Any sort of fire (including careless disposal of cigarette butts) is asking for trouble in extreme heat.

I challenge you to say that directly to any member of the Orange Order.

That's good, because Bastille Day is 14th July. No point setting them of ten days early!
