In the same vein I had the honour of holding my mum's hand as she died in March. I was able to stroke her hair and tell her it was ok to go.

I'll be watching my eldest graduate for the third time next month, when she's awarded her Ph.D for biomedical research. I've already seen her get her BSc and Masters with Distinction. One proud dad.

Are you in health care Sparkle? The nurses who looked after my mum were so compassionate in her last hours. So kind to my dad who was losing his companion of 70 years. People like us are extremely grateful to you all

Well said x

I can remember when my Mum died, I arrived literally a few minutes after she passed and I was alone, a very kind Nurse gave up her break to sit with me until my son came, she apologised and asked if I minded her eating her sandwich...That made me more upset because why should she have to give up her break for me! But she did, I'll never forget that. They say don't they that although you don't really remember that person you never forget how they make you feel

My day job of having people open up about their darkest parts of their lives and allowing me to come so close to their pain. At the same time it can be very draining.

Looking after other peoples children and supporting the parents....

Lately I am seeing Facebook posts from parents of children who I used to care for all grown up, going to proms, starting university, getting jobs, passing their driving tests....starting their own families and it really puts my job into perspective....and it makes me happy when they remember the care I gave them.

I've loved being a part of that snapshot in time, even if it was just for a short time

I have friends in very high places so I called in a favour and the man granted the favour
