"Members of parliament are not paid enough, it attrscts liars, cheats and con men trying to make more money. Pay them all £1m a year so they don't have to worry about what they can do after politics or how much they can make from backhanders, underhand dealing or voting a particular way. They are secure for life and can make a difference in the lives of others. " That is exactly what the Singapore government says...and, indeed, they pay themselves over £1 million.

"Footballers are paid what they are worth to their clubs. I have played with players 50 times better than me and they never got past semi professional level. Frightening how good a top league professional is, and if you are the very best of the top league then you have a skill beyond what someone who loves the sport can even comprehend. 1% of nine year olds who are signed to an professional club academy make it as a professional, at any level. Any MPs in my make believe country would not be allowed to own any shares in any companies either. Any wrong doing that forces you to resign as you position within the cabinet or as an MP results in a compulsory jail sentence and repayment due of all salaries paid to them while in public office.

Footballers accountants have been very clever in the past, with players taking just a basic wage from the club (say 10k a month which is PAYE and NI is paid against) with the rest paid to the players company as 'image rights'. the player can then take directors loans from the company on generous terms that would often see the loan being written off.

"…Think your assessment that paying MP's loads to stop them wanting more is rather naive. All it would do is is increase the size of the bribes Mr" Up to a point. Another way of looking at MPs pay is that we don’t pay enough to attract anyone who can’t already afford to be an MP. I prefer the pay them all a flat £75k and make them live in a publicly owned accommodation block. No expenses apart from work travel, and no flipping houses to make a killing at taxpayers expense okaying the London property market.

I don’t like my job role, I resign only to get another job role in the same place. And I make the rules. So I laugh every day. Hahaha. How about you?" Being a Footballer isn't really a job, they are part of the entertainment industry. The size of their fees are based on their ability to generate income through their performances. For me personally, I'd not pay a penny for any football. Cal

Anyone FOH deals with the public. Do you remember clapping for the supermarket workers? The public on the whole are not very nice. The majority are not organised, as such usually arrive tetchy. FOH is putting up with your shit and it's usually a shambles of a clients making. A builder comes and goes as they please. I laid my own driveway it took a while. I had a builder with 2 employees, lay my garden paito, lay new turf and build a wall. It took 7 weeks. Monday to Friday They'd arrive at 9 and leave at 2pm including the hour for lunch and the many fag breaks and material runs. They would sit in the van from 11am if it was hot. So dont tell me they're working in the heat. They did a decent job but if I was in a rush I would have less patience. My mate is a plumber and has only ever done installation jobs. Obviously there's more money and less contact with faeces. When there's a fault he simply suggests that they call out an emergency plumber and not him because he left it working. You'll find a lot of plumbers are like that. Let's go back to who you think is getting paid to work hard for 8 to 10 hours and put up with shit who deserves more pay and respect. It's not the skillset, it's the position. A tradesman can ignore the public. Someone on FOH who encounters the public cannot. The fact you called me delusional tells me how you think towards any sort of customer services. There is a good reason why no one went back to airline services. There's a good reason why there's many gaps in face to face customer services. The money ain't worth the shit!

How many other professional have to start work at 1,2 or 3 in the morning and forsake their social lives to do so. Then of course there's the MASSIVE responsibility for the lives of the hundreds of passengers on any one train at a time. Kids throwing bricks at your windscreen, people killing themselves using the train your driving and the trauma that such an event causes. Whilst your driving your car at 10mph in thick fog, we're still driving at speeds of in excess of 125mph and still stopping at red signals and stations (most of the time, lol). Now think again my friend.

"Our military personnel and their families. Whilst everyone is talking about politicians, footballers, train drivers etc. These people put their lives on the line, live and deliver under some of the worst environments whilst everyone else is protected comfortable and safe due to their and most commonly their families sacrifices. The difference between these brave, moral , heroic people is, they are not doing it for pay or status. But for purpose, honour and belief in our nationality, culture and communities. If only all the professions mentioned above had these characteristics. We wouldn’t even be having this conversation. " Agreed . And don't forget our frontline NHS staff. My late wife was a nursing support worker and got paid "peanuts". Then there's our Firemen and Police, the list can grow & grow. Far too many "professions" being under valued & underpaid.

Heck if we got 3% every year we'd be happy. The highest I've ever had since graduating has been 2%. Most years its been 0% or 1%. Its barely been affordable to sustain this long but this year its just too much. It isn't about just this year's percentage, it's playing catch up for all the other years we've effectively taken a paycut.

If we make a move to self driving vehicles, that would cause mass unemployment. In fact a lot of technological advancement is held back by the need to keep jobs. "This might be controversial….: Minimum wage….I think it’s an awful concept, rewarding low skilled non-technical labour whilst holding back skilled technical salaries (Runs for cover)….! " I sort of agree with you. The skilled people who earn a decent salary are normally the ones who tried their hardest at school to get the O and A levels they needed to then go on to further education. A lot of professional qualifications take up a lot of time and effort over several years and chances are when they do get a job they will still be earning close to a minimum wage for a few years until after a lot of hard work, effort and unpaid overtime they will get the salary they deserve. A lot of well paid people earn that money because they do "earn" it.

" But I am a "dirty leftist" who believes in universal basic income. I think its 100% inevitable that we will have a universal basic income income funded by a AI tax or robot tax. Jobs are going to dissappear within 20 years that will leave a massive percentage of the population without work. Andrew yang in America is a big proponent of it " Elon said this
