"Where will this one go? "

To waste together with countless ordinary everyday innocent people's lives.

Vergissmeinnicht (Forget me not)

-----

Three weeks gone and the combatants gone

returning over the nightmare ground

we found the place again, and found

the soldier sprawling in the sun.

The frowning barrel of his gun

overshadowing. As we came on

that day, he hit my tank with one

like the entry of a demon.

Look. Here in the gunpit spoil

the dishonoured picture of his girl

who has put: Steffi. Vergissmeinnicht.

in a copybook gothic script.

We see him almost with content,

abased, and seeming to have paid

and mocked at by his own equipment

that's hard and good when he's decayed.

But she would weep to see today

how on his skin the swart flies move;

the dust upon the paper eye

and the burst stomach like a cave.

For here the lover and killer are mingled

who had one body and one heart.

And death who had the soldier singled

has done the lover mortal hurt.

If I may.... There is only one God... The wars are about... " My Prophet is better than your Prophet" driven by fanatics who seek power in the name of their prophet who.... In all cases... Came with a message of peace....

Man is a strange animal.....

It's got nothing to do with god nor religion! That was just a flimsy excuse to try and justify the actions.

Leave them all to it and let them kill each other whilst we look to fight for our own and sort this country out.

And your opinion is as valid as is is common held...

My opinion, if I may, is to make a point that the common held view could be rephrased... Which in no way negates your opinion....

"Cos the don't give a shit about god, they seek power."

That's what I was going to say.

It's dangerous to confuse religion with faith. They are not the same.

First of all, there is no "God", Secondly, Many religions believe in more than 1 "God", Lastly religion is stupid, It's just another way for people to control the weak minded.

Big believer in do not judge a religion until you have read their holy book. And that religion is not evil just the people that carry it out. A lot to be said for "live and let live"

Conversely... There being a god... It may be that it takes a strength of mind to be able to follow a belief system...which not every one has....

I could be wrong....

Could be, but the more likely reason for there "Believe" is that they are to scared to think for themselves, so instead they blindly follow whatever the church or whoever is in control tell them to. And the other reason would be that something bad has happened in their lives and so they look to God to help them deal with it. because they refuse to believe that bad things happen for no reason, They need to believe there is a reason for everything.

'look to fight for our own'......and therein lies the answer.

Humans are victims of tribalism. We needed tribalism throughout evolution in order to survive. Much of the animal kingdom instinctively protects it's territory in order to control the resources in that territory as part of ensuring individual and group survival. It is not 'natural' to share and share alike or to treat your neighbour as you would treat your own.

Religion is not the root of the problem, but when it comes to wars it helps to further differentiate 'us from them'. It also helps to make death for the cause a little more palatable.

Tribalism is the instinct our modern society has to overcome. Until we do we will always have wars.

Onward Christian soldiers eh.....

"Where will this one go? "

Currently 90 Palestinian deaths to 3 Isreali with a possible ground war planned. With a toothless UN this seems to only be going one way.

Through out history there have been numerous wars big+small all started by some power hungry idiot or idiots, sometimes its about religion, other times power+money, none of the reasons are acceptable to me,i get the feeling one day we will go the way of the dinosaurs due to crazy people who seem determined to blow each other up,although there are plenty of good people about too so i obviously hope im wrong

I think its more about a group of individuals who want to wage war so in order to get mire support use religion and religious fever to gain support. If you look at it clinically they are not unlike football hooligans who choose a banner to inflict hate under.
