"I can't help thinking that holding a boiling kettle whilst having a medical episode is not a good idea. I'm not diabetic so don't know what to suggest...keeping a pack of boiled sweets handy, perhaps? What sort of insect is it? Is it a beetle? Does it fly, walk or jump? The good news is that "big" insects are rarely harmful in this country. Bees and wasps aside the most painful/dangerous insects are probably horse flies, mosquitoes and fleas - none of which are "big". " I have a stash of hypo-be-gone foodstuffs. My blood sugar is coming up now ![]() ![]()

"I have diabetes and my blood sugar has crashed. I'm trying to make instant noodles while shaking uncontrollably. Also, there's a massive terrifying insect in my bedroom. Send help!" • If you're shaking uncontrollably perhaps fill a cocktail shaker with ice, gin and Vermouth. Voila! ![]()

" The monster insect flies, sounds very rattley and HUGE! I think it's either a stag beetle or a dirty stop out dragonfly. I know both are harmless but I'm also terrified whatever it is is going to fly into my face ![]() Rattley (not buzzing) means it isn't a bee, wasp or horsefly. It could be a dragonfly, damselfly, moth or a beetle. Dragonflies and damselflies are normally found near water; unless you live near a reservoir, canal, river or similar it's unlikely to be one of these close cousins. Large beetles rarely venture indoors and Stag beetles (the largrest) are rare outside the home counties (South East). They rarely fly as they are ground beetles and are normally found near trees or rotting wood. If neither of the above apply it's probably a big moth. Try turning the light off and opening a window (leave the room after turning the light off if necessary) ![]()

"I've had a dragonfly in the flat before. It's stuck in the sash window I think. Oh an old friend then ![]() It's good news that your blood sugars are returning to an acceptable level. Should the dragon fly , fly into face just think of it as an extra source of protein ![]()

"I've had a dragonfly in the flat before. It's stuck in the sash window I think. " But...dragonflies are cool! They're the fastest flying insects and can immediately stop, hover, fly backwards or change direction instantly. They're like the helicopters of the insect world. They're also harmless to people. If you're superstitious (admittedly, I'm not) dragonfly visits are supposed to be a sign of good luck.
