How safe is oral exactly? What are the chances of catching an sti from giving or receiving a blowjob?

It’s not safe you can still get sti’s but it is lower than vaginal or anal sex…

The chances of catching something are all different though…

Common STI’s through oral are, gonorrhoea, herpes and syphilis

Less frequently passed on through oral are, chlamydia, hepatitis and HIV

Would probably be best to look on the NHS or sexual health site.

all loved up

You can still catch things but it's a much lower risk. I've been doing oral without a condom since my late teens and not had anything

Yeah I've done oral with guys for years and never caught anything, I was just wondering how many people actually do catch something from oral

Tbh i can’t tell the difference between being penetrated with or without a condom but i can definitely tell the difference between sucking a cock with or without one.

Also, 9 times out 10 oral is just foreplay and not endgame so less fluid is transferred.

We get tested regularly so its the risk we’re willing to take.

There are also ways to limit your risks with oral.

Making sure you don't brush your teeth for at least 2 hours beforehand.

Using Listerine or chlorhexidine-based mouthwashes 30 mins before oral Sex and immediately afterwards have, in studies, shown a reduction in any live virus/bacteria (studies cover gonorrhea, hiv and herpes)

One thing that always surprises me is people's lack of understanding that hand based foreplay also has risks if you're using the same hand penis/Vagina or penis to anus (every woman should know anus to vagina is a no no). Fluid transfer can occur, again it's a lesser risk, but keeping one hand for the wanking of others and one hand for the wanking of yourself is a good start (and making sure others you're playing with do the same)
