Why does 30 degree heat feel hotter in the UK than it does when you're abroad?

Seriously!!

Spent the start of June in Turkey (32 degree average) and didn't bother me at all.

My head convinced me that I wasn't allowed to function yesterday, at all!!

Is it just holiday mode? All inclusive drinks add more resilience? Plethora of hot people in one location adds to the enjoyment.

Feeling perplexed

Humidity plays a big factor. Look up wet bulb temperatures

Because you're not trying to get things done in Turkey.

Working, houses and offices designed to keep you warm rather than cool like in places like Turkey. You are more relaxed so don't really care either, not in a rush to get anything done/everything is done for you such as cooking and cleaning etc.

Norfolk

It is the humidity levels. Most holiday destinations have a drier climate than the UK.

Eg. 40degrees Celsius in a jungle is much more oppressive than 40degrees Celsius in a desert

I agree - no problem whilst I’ve been abroad and then Kings Cross felt like an oven! With no air!

Yup. Humidity. It's the price we pay for our green and luscious land.

Turkey is a much more arid climate.

Worthing

Usually it's the humidity. Inland it can be a few degrees higher. Noticed this on visiting relatives a few years ago.

Market Harborough / Kettering

On holiday you are wearing very little (or nothing at all if you are adventurous!). I'm currently wearing boxer shorts, trousers, a long sleeved shirt, socks and shoes and to me its the socks and shoes that do it !!
