Cold sore

Never had one before until yesterday, much to my bafflement.

I bought Boots own version of Zovirax on the advice of the pharmacist and used as instructed. This morning my lip is really swollen and puffy as well as having the sore. Is this how it usually progresses, or could it be a reaction to the cream?

Wrap an ice cube in some thin fabric and hold it on the sore as often as you can manage.

Does sound like a reaction, that shouldn’t happen.

Very unusual to develop cold sores for the first time at your age.

That doesn't sound appealing.

Basically the alcohol content helps dry up a wet blistering cold sore.

I know, it's very odd. I've consulted Dr Google and it's not unheard of though. My ex husband used to get them, so it's possible I've had it dormant in my body for the last 20 years and it's waited until I'm run down to make an apparence. Thanks Face Herpes, thanks so much

I get coldsores when I get run down or stressed out not so much these days. I started drinking small amounts of Apple cider vinegar which I’ve been taking for about 20 years which has worked for myself I would recommend this. Also it’s very good for the immune system

You can get medicated clear patches which Mr KC finds to be very good. Maybe try those?

Leeds (Home) / Sheffield (Work)

I got my first cold sore at 28 (last year) and when I looked in to it quite a few things can cause them.

The clear medicated patches worked amazing. I got them from boots I think. They were great pain relief while it lasted.

Yep, it’s the gift that keeps giving! I get them when the seasons change, ie, when the cold weather comes in, and the spring starts. Usually 7 days of feeling self conscious while they dry up, then back to normal

I have customers say to me “Have you been licking dirty pussy again?” To which I reply “Well you wouldn’t stick your cock in a dirty pussy would you?”……..

I get them when my iron or folates are low.

It lies dormant in a bunch of nerves around your jaw by your ear.

If mine keep reoccurring I get my blood tested as I'm usually needing folic acid.

That's interesting. I'm making a conscious effort at the moment to eat well to help with my MH (off work with anxiety). I should probably look at the diet a bit more closely.
