Reports that beef is off the menu in some Cornish primary schools. They can no longer afford it. Will there be a whole generation of school kids who have never tasted beef?

.

Well it depends if they have it cooked at home or not I guess.

I personally think it won't do them any harm to never taste beef, would it?

Lamb's very expensive now, and something we never had. Must have been a posh school.

Bash Street pretty much. I have a lifelong horror of mint sauce.

Our school dinner ladies couldn’t even cook oven chips and all they offered were cheap food I wouldn’t eat ever

Reports that turkey being used where it's cheaper than chicken and cheaper meats from abroad.

It's all over the news

We are losing a generation to the pleasure of succulent beef

The French have called us La Roast Boeuf for years.

What will they call us now?

When did school dinners have the budget for "succulent" beef?

Surely quality ingredients are better than the cheapest cut of meat possible.

I don't remember having beef in anything at school when I was a kid.

We had pork sausages, cheese flan and fish fingers most of the time.

At Christmas we got turkey.

Everything was with chips.

Beef was pretty well removed from menus during the mad cow years. Must have been a generation of kids grew up then who never knew what beef was. As for McDonald's... no that doesn't count as beef, not sure what it is, maybe ground up cow hide, hoofs and horns?
