.

So I've recently had to transfer data/messages over to a new phone - I was shocked at the amount of messages. Of course I waffle but it was far too many.

So what do you do with old messages? Whether you're still in contact with that person or not. Are you the sort to delete them periodically and keep everything up to date? Or just leave them all and realise you've not spoken to Bob in five years and don't particularly want to but effort.

I'm brutal, I delete anyone I haven't been in contact with for 6 months.

It must be really annoying if you have someone that leaves really long voice notes though.

I’m a deleter, I keep virtually nothing on my phone, except my music library, and a small handful of messages.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

I've got text messages going back to 2014 on my phone, which were transferred from my old phone. Three of the message threads are with friends who have died, but the others I should just delete really.

6 months! Some of my erm friends I only message a couple of times a year. That is brutal!

I quite like really long voice notes, don't get enough of them. *cough cough*

La la land

I have a very old phone I've kept since my 20's. Which hasn't been switched on in decades doubt it works now. But it has messages from my best mate to died in an accident so I can't bin it. But to answer your question I tend to keep messages forever in general.

But what about that message* from someone you've not spoken to in years where they wax lyrically about your blowjob skills? That's prime ego boosting material.

*I don't have this.

How many emails? What are you doing woman! No, emails are differently, got to run a tight ship on your box.

I had a good few (embarrassingly high) amount of messages on WA. My phone almost died during transferring, that's how long it took.

You’ve yet to send it to me

Kidding aside, even ‘that message’ is a goner.

Gapping Fanny

I keep everything.

All emails, sms, whatsapp etc.

I even back it all up offline.

They will come in handy for when I write my memoirs and all the characters I have come across

East London

I delete numbers and messages of anyone who isn't family who hasn't messaged in months.

Anything important to me I want to keep I screenshot and write on if needed.

I kept a conversation between myself and my long term partner where he opened up told me he definitely loved me.

I like to read through it now and then.

He's not said it again.

I clear it all out sporadically. I'm not a hoarder but, neither am I a religious deleter. If a message is meaningful to me I take a screenshot.

Portsmouth

I delete everything. The only one I saved and emailed to myself was from a friend who passed away.
