Absolutely no idea. My grandad kept one on the parcel shelf of his car. I really hope the pp who said it was for wanking purposes is not correct in this instance.

Never really thought about it, I am desperately hoping it is nose related and none of the other reasons suggested here! There was always a box of tissues on my grandparents dashboard.....

I don't have a parcel shelf thingy in my car, I had to take it out to fit my charabanc in. I do keep a mini pack of tissues in the door pocket, for mainly child-related issues. Nature wees, snot, spills and sticky mitts mainly.
