I think I am now officially old! Noticed more and more under 25's on the site lately...when I was that age the last place I would have thought of being was on a swingers site.

Is nothing happening in the RW for the younger generation these days??

Unfortunately the younger generation do everything online.

Most younger people I know can barely hold a conversation in person but can text each other for hours.

I remember at 25, using these weird chat rooms on my mobile and you had to spell the numbers to give someone your number so they could text you, back in 2002/3.

I think these sites help the younger crowd find things that they might feel embarrassed about in everyday life. As a mature, fuller figured woman I get a lot of attention on here from younger men. I was out in a pub the other night and I made eye contact with a few young, hot men and even though I got that "you know you wanna" vibe from them none approached me as they didn't want to "lose face" with their friend. Fab is a safe place for those that want "dirty little secrets". Might be why the word "discreet" is bounced around so often. That's my opinion aways

Also, when I was 25 you had to go to sex shops to buy contact magazines and post letters to post office box numbers in order to find parties and events.

Possibly a generalisation but I think the yoofs see it more as a sex site than it being about swinging.

I reckon you’ve got a couple of good years left in you

When we were younger this stuff happened by word of mouth. It's much easier on line. I don't think it's a question of the under 25s not having a life in the real world...this *is" the real world or part of it. They still have jobs, eat, sleep, talk to people on shops etc. I spend an awful lot of time on the net, I wouldn't talk to a lot of my friends and family half as much if I didn't, especially those in other countries.

That’s just passing the time. I’m actually capable of forming sentences when talking to actual humans in the real world.

In the last year or 2 we’ve had 6 young new starters at work and only 1 of them has managed to form any sort of friendships.

Maybe too much time online, maybe lockdowns and less social interaction. I’ve honestly tried so hard to make conversation considering I work a couple of metres away from 2 of them for 8 hours a day and it’s impossible.

In the west.

It's just the modern way. I know quite a few young people who have met their wife or husband online they see it as just part of normal life.

If only they were computer aliens, like us oldies, they would have had the pleasure of meeting someone at the dancing on a Saturday night and arranging a midweek date at the pictures and hoping they turned up. Or even hanging about a phonebox waiting for it to ring at 7:37 on a Tuesday night.

I recognise that experience . I worked in an environment with a lot of young people mostly under 18. There were some who just didn't want to engage with older people either because they didn't have the confidence, were shy or just thought I was ridiculous (which to be fair, to them I was lol). A lot though were fine and I formed some great work relationships with them.

If they're late teens or early 20s then I'm sorry but they do. I'm 4 years younger than you but we had a 22 year old assistant who saw me as a "proper adult/professional" in comparison to him though he was quite sweet and asked me for a lot of life advice which was funny. We were in vastly different places in life. He was still living with mum and his priorities were making money to go out and go on holidays while I was applying for mortgages.

I know for me personally I went through a lot of changes in my 20s and my perception of age changed vastly between my early and late 20s and in my early 20s,anyone over 30 definitely did seem old. Honestly, even when I graduated at 23 I felt like a kid on placement in my first full time job. I was lucky that there were a bunch of older women who were quite motherly to me so I felt quite comfortable there in time but it can definitely be an intimidating experience and people absolutely do treat you somewhat like a kid based on your age or your perceived age. I even let sexual and inappropriate comments about me by older male managers slide when I was 23 which is something I absolutely would not stand for anymore. I still experience some judgement for my age now sometimes when people think I'm younger than I am, even when at one point I was the second most experienced person in a job below the manager.

Finding the transition difficult and intimidating from being almost exclusively surrounded by peers of your own age in education to having coworkers of a whole range of different ages and especially when they're mostly significantly older than you does not mean you have a serious lack of social skills. I'm now quite used to often being the youngest person in a department by at least a decade but it certainly took some adjustment and I didn't really feel like a lot of people truly took me seriously in the workplace until my late 20s anyway (especially people who had been there for years and years at the same level) and gaining promotions often only made that worse.

As much as I agree with all of that it doesn’t really apply to my line of work. I work in a “lads” environment. We basically all fuck around all day so even when I started at 24 I didn’t see any of the older people as grown ups.

Maybe I’m just kidding myself and I am actually over the hill but I honestly think the younger generation have a lack of basic social skills. This isn’t a dig at them either, just an observation.
