And the scientific process is no different, often being an iterative process that progressively uncovers more data, or improves our understanding of things. Improvements in research methods, technology, resources etc, will understandably extend our abilities to reach more accurate conclusions. Science isn't a 1 time thing. It's an ongoing process, sometimes providing surprises. We all make mistakes, it's a human trait. | |||

As in the example case sited. I have no issue with any of that. I do take issue with the way some (possibly just lazy social media discussion) who worship "science" and all things science and unable to admit we don't know what we don't know and we understand what we know to be true at the moment. And further profess a rigorous and honest process when often times we know we search for the facts of the truth by setting out to prove only those facts and anything else is an unexplained outlier. The most important thing you said is we are ignorant of what we don't know. It's important to remember the limitations and be open minded enough to acknowledge them. Now faith on the other hand, has a bit of a get out of jail free card because as far as I can tell.. it requires no scientific proof of anything. It's ultimately whether an individuals believe or not. | |||

But having said that, you are right in very abstract way. Birds lived on and are considered surviving dinosaurs, so those teeth marks in a KFC chicken leg thrown on pavement sort of meets the criteria above. | |||
