Lyrically it's not exactly beautiful, however one of the most beautiful sounds my ears have ever heard is the Pentatonix version of Hallelujah.

Much as I like Everybody Hurts, it's not even the most beautiful song on that album IMO - Nightswimming and Find the River are even more exquisitely bittersweet.

Other contenders:

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen (but sung by Jeff Buckley)

Lay Lady Lay - Bob Dylan

Let it be - the Beatles

California Dreamin' - The Mamas and the Papas

If you could read my mind by Gordon Lightfoot (but sung by Johnny Cash)

And so on

Im a heavy rockin' dude, but would have to add the following to this thread

- Castles - Freya Riding

- Dont Let Go - Winona Oak (a positive, uplifting song, but one that always invokes thoughts of a current lover who I know is going to break my heart)

- Green Light - Lorde

- When Is the Future? - VNV Nation.

Twat - the Winona Oak song is Let Me Know. Dont let go is a recurring lyric...

"Lyrically it's not exactly beautiful, however one of the most beautiful sounds my ears have ever heard is the Pentatonix version of Hallelujah.

"

I’ve heard of them briefly but I have to say the best performance of Hallelujah came from Kyle Tomlinson when he was 15 on Britain’s Got Talent, he was seemingly rejected by David Walliams a couple of years earlier as being told to get singing lessons. He did, he came back and smashed it. David gave him the golden buzzer.

I don’t believe there is a ‘most beautiful song’ as everyone will have their own.

Right now mine is

10,000 Reasons

Lord of the dance

Abide with me - Emilie Sandé

Yes they are all hymns, the first one is the newest, and no, I’m not religious.
