Newcastle and Gateshead

So…. Time to make you all feel old… 38 years ago last week marked the cinema release of one of the films of a certain generation… the karate kid… paint the fence, wax on wax off ect….

Now… remember that the ending of the film is him fighting in the all valley karate tournament ( no spoilers as to who won.. even after 38 years.. sidebar, can it still be called a spoiler after 38 year!! Different discussion!)

Anyway… got me to thinking.. and it’s a great pub discussion

What FICTIONAL sports event would you like to have been a spectator at?

Away you go!

On a mooch

Fictional has to be Field of Dreams, I still get a lump in my throat when the past players turn up and then slowly leave one by one.

Real - to watch Ernie David score a touchdown in front of a hostile Texan crowd during the Cotton Bowl - the movie is The Express

Two things here…

1) You have to see the first 10 minutes of the fox broadcast when mlb actually recreated the field of dreams for real… it’s amazing… I’ll find it on YouTube for you

2) I’ve been to a cotton bowl game… they don’t play them at the old place now, they play them at Dallas cowboys stadium.. it okay!!

If you ever want to do a college bowl game I got the chance after 20 odd years to see my team in a Rose Bowl… and it was epic, and I cried!!!

Yes your right sorry autocorrect and lack of glasses, missed it.

Not a gridiron fan, to be honest I struggle to understand the game, except you must get the ball a certain distance in 4 or else goes to I position. Plus it’s so so long, disjointed with advert breaks. I do like movies about the sport though
