Question for tea and coffee drinkers

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m being a nosey blighter again; Today’s question:

Do you drink your hot drink of choice boiling hot i.e do you start swinging it straight after having poured it out of the kettle or else do you allow it to cool down before venturing a mouthful?

If the latter, how long exactly do you wait? (in minutes and seconds preferably for my extraordinary detailed data collation purposes)

Eeee I don’t like that oily film one gets on cold tea. I presume it’s the milk? My pooch absolutely loves cold tea though

I usually wait around 5 minutes before drinking it or long enough for me to finish my breakfast if it’s my morning coffee.

I give it a few minutes to cool a bit, but drink it quickly rather than sipping

The hotter the drink is when you drink it increases the chances of oesophagal cancer. The heat creates free radicals which then go on to break dna strands

I put cold water in my coffee. How much depends on if it was brewed with a kettle, percolator or espresso machine. And I just want to cool it down, it still has to be strong.

I have no protective layer on my tongue so spicy or hot food & drink are a no no for me.

A world all of his own

Usually allow it a minute or two to cool before I start to drink it.

I drink tea.

I let it cool down for about 5 minutes, then just sip it over the next 5-7 minutes.

Love my tea pipping hot.

When i do drink coffee it is left to cool a bit and coffee should never have boiling water poured on it

My tea-drinking technique is remarkably similar to my oral sex technique - I stick my lips straight in and slurp until I can't take it any more.

I pour it straight in hot but then have half a packet of biscuits first then drink what's left.

There's definitely an optimum temperature for drinking tea. I've often thought what that is in °c - anyone got a guage?

here & there

Well my coffee should be a freshly ground from bean at a 32 second extraction, served at 75c with a 3rd coffee 3rd milk 3rd foam for the perfect cappuccino

Tea should be at 95c clipper organic or twinnings breakfast with only a little milk leaving it exactly 5 minutes 43 seconds before drinking

Any hot drink should be like innocent hot, strong and really hit the spot

Sweet xx

I wait for my coffee to cool down as you get more of the taste characteristics compared to if you drink it straight after brewing

I think there are some who would be horrified by my morning tea making ritual. Two Yorkshire gold teabags into a pyrex jug, boiling water, cover with a tea-towel and go for a shower. 15-20 mins later, in with the milk and 3 minutes in the microwave. It goes into a big mug, and more often than not, I forget where I put it and when I find it, back in the microwave it goes.
