I’ve always had a weird love of being in hospital! Soggy toast, being waited on, free to read my kindle, general anaesthetic!

Don’t like the sweaty mattresses but a small price to pay!!

Thankfully I’ve never had one (yet) but visiting relatives and friends that have / are currently in hospital it’s not an experience I’m keen on.

Can I just enjoy hotels in beach resorts instead?

Yeah, just a nice little elective surgery or something.

I love it. Peace and quiet, food brought to my bed, being fussed over - nothing better. It’s nice to be cared for.

I've met a patient that had been in hospital for 19 months!

Not his fault to be fair, he had to have his legs amputated and then had a heart attack. So his wife had to sell their house and find a bungalow to suit and then have the bungalow adapted, needless to say takes a while. Every month he was shunted from hospital to hospital, so he wasn't bed blocking. Even spent time in a nursing home till he had another heart attack...

Awww yeah! When I had my boobs done at a private hospital it was amazing! The food was gorgeous, my room was amazing, wanted to stay forever!

I spent most of a couple of years in and out of hospitals when I was primary school (missed a lot of learning there) so I have no good memories or cravings to go back.

Nurses are nice though

I’ve only stayed on maternity wards as an adult. Different experiences on both, but I remember the meals consisted of mince, a lot!

Hospital tea is super refreshing though.

The private hospital that did my NHS procedure in 2020 was ACE. I honestly would have stayed longer. Just a shame I had to have my bag sliced n diced to merit a stay there

I did see a nurse off here recently. But she disappointed when it came to stories I'm afraid.

Work and play kept very separate, to her credit.

As an adult I've only ever been in overnight when having babies. The last time was during a heatwave. I've never been so uncomfortable. It was like a sauna from hell. Thank god it was only one night.

With the previous baby I was stuck there a week. Not so bad as it was March. And I learned to never eat the fish. The rest of the food was great though

Absolutely hated my times there. Once when 11 I was in for 10 days. I was in a ward with what I remember to be old dying people. The smell was awful the food… ok the jelly was good. The Aussy nurse who brought me a silverchair Cd was nice. But the smell

I hated it so much that when I broke my femur i checked out after 3 days not taking no for an answer

Me! Can’t understand it when people say they hate hospitals - why? They have the ability of saving your life, they’ve done that twice for me

Autocarrot changed 'vag' to bag for some reason. It was my vag sliced n diced in a lovely private hospital

The nurse assigned to me was so concerned about my mobility after the GA (it was actually fine), that she insisted on showering me. She washed my hair and everything

And I got green tea in a POT! Actual green tea. Not over stewed sludge.

I absolutely hate it!

I've spent more than enough time in hospital, mostly with sick parents. But it's horrendous.

I get why some people might enjoy the. I remember my mum used to love when she had to stay in, she thought of it like a hotel.

But yeah, definitely not for me.

Our Infirmary hospital is shite, been in loads of times for breaking legs after having implants put in (how to piss off your surgeon part one lol) basically the trusted food in there are the salads. Except the pasta salad & tuna one (don’t like fish) I’d come out nearly a stone lighter than what I went in. I decided to have a chicken dish one day…. Suffice to say i didn’t eat it as it was stuck/welded to the plate

I have had one long hospital stay in my life and it was pretty awful because I was sick!

But if I could go back and do it all again without being ill, I definitely would - nice people on my ward (I made friends!), permission to not think about work/life etc for a month, staff taking care of me, 3 meals a day plus snacks (and the food was pretty damn good on my ward!)

And sedatives! I miss the sedatives...

Ive also had a short hospital stay on a different ward and that was awful and not something I would repeat - I got out asap after 2 nights

OP - is there a reason you thought of this at all? Have you got a hospital stay coming up?
