Who, like me, are over thinkers?

I wish I wasnt but I cant help it.

I read way too much into the smallest of things.

How do you deal with it?

It doesnt always happen, I just wish I had a better grip on it at times x

Chronic overthinker here. Add insecurity and anxiety to the mix as well. Fucking hate it but can't stop it.

I'm a huge overthinker , but also, I know when something is off, or isn't quite right, or just feels wrong. Trying to balance the two is exhausting at times

I always have been an over thinker. This can cause a lot of problems in relationships. As in another post . Does female find me attractive , like me. Tendency is to think female being polite . Then find excuse not to see again ?

Anxiety is an absolute bitch!

I just wish I could relax and switch off. I just know I can ruin things in a blink of an eye

Overthink pretty much everything that's why I like people in my life to be upfront and situations to be clear. Otherwise, I'll make my own conclusions on things. I've kinda retrained my brain to not stress over things I can't control which helps a lot but I'll always be an over thinker for sure.

I completely feel your pain!

I think one technique that I’ve heard is to allow yourself an allotted time slot of maybe ten to twenty minutes at a set time of day that you dedicate to thinking about the issue and if it pops

into your head outside of that time you dismiss it until it’s time to think about it. I did try it in the past but as an anxiety sufferer too it can be tough to do.

I hope you get some peace soon x

I think it comes from being non trusting. I tend to overthink more with people who tend to be serial bullshitters. I will pick the bones out of everything they say to see if they are indeed being truthful or are just simply 'full of shit'.

I agree with this totaly. If your having to think things through then something is wrong. I caught a fwb.( sorry was fwb) out the other day. And i was right. Trust your gut feeling.

surrounded by twinkly lights

I have an analytical brain that I can get stuck in.

Meditation helps massively to come out of it and brain dump time with suduko or a jigsaw gives me that required brain pause for at least an hour

I have ADHD. I don’t tend to overthink but can become hyper-fixated on one single thing to the point where it’s like a car alarm going off in my head x

Spent too many years paralysed by overthinking and self analysis until I reached a point 7 years ago where I realised I was turning 50 and there were huge voids in my life that I had wasted talking.

From that point on I chose not to talk about the whys and why nots and just get on and do.

I've no interest in reading books about other people's experiences or in educating myself about life and living.

Now I just make my own experiences and live in the moment every chance I get.

I trust my instincts and they can change , depending on how good a liar is

I have a feeling this might be the case. I hyper fixate on something and it consumes my every thought, including my dreams.

I usually write out things on paper that are bothering me and play it forward to possible conclusions, writing out “what’s the worst that could happen” and “what is wiring on my control”. I find that being pragmatic and realistic when you’re doing so helps me assimilate and process things.

Good luck OP X

I get told all the time that I over think things, but then that's hardly surprising when part of your career involves staying ahead of the HSE and other soft cocks in suits who thrive on beurogracy. Only yesterday I bought some controlled killer at an agricultural store only to discover that it needs to be applied by a licenced person. Me being my usual self, I've been exploring the training qualification and getting a licence before applying it, just in case some arsehole tries to drop me in the shit.

I tend to describe myself as the kind of guy who buys his condoms two at a time, and that way I always stay one jump ahead.

Overthinking is the source of many regrets. Its stopped me taking chances that really should have taken. I have learnt to stop thinking so much but there's always that little "what if" thought to contend with.

I am an over thinker and I have to deal with it by talking about it. I always make sure that the person I am talking knows it’s thoughts is my head and no agenda is attached to it.

Rather than block it out learn to use it as a super power. I would rather overthink than not think at all

Guilty! However this overthinking and cautious nature has kept me out of trouble and making wrong choices many times
