Newcastle and Gateshead

So it looks like the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) have said that Ukraine can’t hold next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.. and have asked the BBC if they are interested in the UK hosting…

So… you need a 10000 seat arena to host… London, Manchester and Leeds have already said yes please! The 2 favourites are Glasgow at the hydro… and Cardiff at the millennium stadium

So… 2 questions… 1) where should host? And 2) I am thinking the mother of all socials we could organise!!!!

Can I present the Eurovision Song Contest thread live!!!!

near Glasgow

Glasgow would be a good option, essentially 3 venues on one campus, Hydro, Armadillo & the exhibition centre.

bonus that BBC Scotland HQ is just across the river so broadcasting facilities are already in place

If it was to come to Glasgow, the Hydro or the SECC would be ideal. Their capacity is about 13-14000. Got a feeling it could be held in London though x

I hope the BBC doesn't have to pay for it all, as is normally the case for host countries.

As one journalist put it the last time the the UK won "There goes the BBC's costume drama budget for the year".

We have several venues here in the Mancunia. Two fair sized stadiums. One large arena. One massive conference village (Event Village) right by the Trafford Centre. Giz a crack at it!

In the west.

Glasgow could just edge it. The BBC has been moving services around the country and it has only ever been hosted in London and Birmingham.

As someone above said the BBC HQ in Scotland is just across the river.

Surely this all depends on availability. They can't just cancel other planned concerts to host Eurovision.

That’s why it won’t be in London, the 02 is already booked, Uk have been the favourites to host due to the current situation in Ukraine and the planning for next year will need to start now. I’m sure I read there was availability to host in Glasgow so I suspect there is also availability Cardiff too.
