It's the way I want to remain personally but get a bit of grief from certain older people in my family about my choices.

Has anyone else had to deal with similar? How have you dealt with it?

As much as it annoys me not sure I can do that to a near 90 year old woman haha!

I am now 68. Never had children of my own. Something which missed out on. No matter what a lot say about parenthood .

You’re pretty young, you have a lot of years to change your mind!! My husband bitterly regrets that he never had children! But it’s not for everyone

When one of my relatives tells me I'll change my mind, I blank them for a week.

I think ultimately family are like dogs. You train them.

My family try to tell me I don't know my own mind, I withdraw for awhile.

They get the message and have mostly stopped. (My family with the out there politics, similarly)

(My dad would be a bloody adorable grandfather but it's not coming from me)

Point out the cost of children and tell them you can only afford it if they stump up a good few hundred grand to help- then get the snip and spend the money on holidays and ho’s as they say….just tell them you’re trying as hard as you can but nowt seems to happen

Worthing

Don't get grief, it's just accepted by everyone that I don't want children. I've been a good Uncle (still am) to nieces and nephews which has been enough for me.

I'm not single but I don't want children and I'm okay with that. If people can't get their heads round it, that's their problem. Live your life how you want it, bollocks to everyone else.

I never ever wanted and children and only ever hear or witness grief and anxiety with parents I know. 99% of the issues come from their children who I’ve never really liked. I can’t ever fathom anything positive about parenthood, nothing good about having responsibilities for rude, selfish and narcissistic youngsters.

Op, you need to distract your elderly members by talking about siblings kids & cousins who have kids.... Easily done! Just change the subject. They will soon forget.

I have friends who had kids & they were always tired & saying they wished they had not jumped in so fast like everyone else.....

Failing that tell them to just fuck off - its your life choice not theirs!

Only those who really want kids should have them as its the most difficult job there is and wreaks havoc if done badly.

Your decision is exactly right for you. It is looking rather unlikely that I'll be made a grandmother, but that's what should happen if my kids are like you and I will wholly support them in that decision as should your family.

I'm not single ,but not kids as I never wanted them.Thankfully nor does my other half.

Over the years I have been made to feel like there was something wrong with me ,especially when I was much younger .

You have to do you & ignore others it's none of their business.

I hope times have moved on now & people can accept people's life choices without asking why not etc.

I've never been interested in having kids. In my 30s one of my cousins used to harangue me and I found the easiest thing was to agree with her: "Yes, you might be right, I might meet the right person and be desperate for babies. I might get to my 40s and really regret not having them. All true, yes".

I'm 49 now and don't get that hassle any more.

I think it can be harder for women, as they're supposedly the care givers and so for them not to want to have children appears unnatural.

I never wanted kids and have never had them. It got easier for me when my sister and brother had kids.

I never wanted to get married either so got a hard time about that too. But just ignored what they had to say.

Children should never be "hated" in life, you was one once and imagine if you heard someone say that about you as a child!

That sticks with them for life!

No child is any of the above things from birth, that's how they're being raised. They don't come out rude, selfish and narcissistic. I'd be looking at the parents themselves who have children like that for the answers and not the children in question.

I have kids & definitely want more. But I believe only people who actually want kids & are willing to raise em should. If your a person who has selfish tendencies (which isn’t a problem in the slightest) you shouldn’t have kids. It’s definitely a full time job. Very rewarding when done right but definitely hard work lol
