The WHO say - In the context of the current global outbreak, continued reference to, and nomenclature of this virus being African is not only inaccurate but is also discriminatory and stigmatising,” the experts write. They go on to criticise the use of photos of African patients with pox lesions in coverage of the outbreak in the global north.

Which seems fair enough.

Pretty obvious to anyone what's going on. People just don't like to see it.

Why they took so long to rename is quite obvious. Every day that word is shouted at me by the lovely public. More so since this pox came about.

People will on keep on using that word name change or not.

Funny how they didn't waste time in changing the Indian variant to Delta.
