I’ve just seen an advert for this and I’m curious; do people think that it’s harmless entertainment, a passé form of transgender acceptance, a positive aspect of modern culture or shameless sexualising of the trans community? Other answers are available, it seems daft to give a binary option in this question!

Thoughts folks?

Think I would need to watch it first before I could comment

Figured it was harmless entertainment personally.

As long as ping pong balls aren’t being fired from asses into the crowd it seems like a fun night, that actually sounds like a fun night too

I've never seen it so not sure if the content warrants offense to be taken as context is important. I'm personally not invested in what they try to or try not to represent but that doesn't mean others can't feel the way they want to in relation to them.

Now I don’t know much about it culturally, but from the little I know, I feel very sorry how culturally they deal with the whole lady boy situation.

From what I know, families who end up having boys, think it’s more viable and financially gaining to turn them into lady boys, so maybe transitioning them from very young. So they can then sell the body to support the family. It’s very sad as you don’t pick gender dysphoria - you can’t make someone trans, if they aren’t.

Sex tourists have a lot to answer for.

They don’t have a concept of transgender. They see ladyboys as occupying a third gender neither male nor female.

Clever poppets

Seen a show in Chang Mai, it’s nothing special just like a variety show. Unfortunately over here I feel it’s regarded as a bit of a freak show. Let’s look at the boys who are almost girls.

When trans folk cant put on a song and dance show we will have reached a weird dystopia.

If you’ve not seen don’t judge.

Think they have the title to create attention and thus sell tickets.

Glad to see it’s still touring with all that’s gone on in the world. All in all just a touring Cabaret show.

Dunno about "freak show". Just like RuPaul on the telly really. A bit of glitter and a lot of grease paint...

I've seen the show at Pattaya and when they toured in UK. It's very good... I wish I could look half as good as they do... Definitely an art form...

Ladyboy shows are common in Thailand. I saw the show in Pattaya and very good it was too. It ended with a great version of Absolutely Everybody and the place rocked. Happy Days.

That's not the case in Thailand. I know a ladyboy who is a doctor at a hospital, another one a pharmacist, another that works at the opticians, chefs, business people, etc., nothing to do with sex.

Yeah, I agree people shouldn't be forced to it.

As for the show, it's harmless entertainment.
