Newbies in clubs.

I’m new to all this and am not sure what to expect. I have someone that I would really like to do more experimenting with. He is very experienced in this world. He’s told me about clubs and how welcoming they are. But I’ve heard from other newbies who have told me that they didn’t feel particularly welcome and were left to their own devices a lot. They say the clubs felt a bit cliquey.

I’m nervous at first with meeting people but once I am comfortable, there’s a whole different outrageous side to me. But I need to feel comfortable.

My advice would be to give it a go, you’ll have your friend as a chaperone and guide and as long as you trust them and can rely on them to have your back then there’s nothing to lose.

Just agree parameters / boundaries and expectations in advance and work as a team.

I would suspect that you’ll have a great time and wonder why you were worried, but even if you don’t at least you’ll know and it’s a case of nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I found out 1st visit to each club we’ve been to a bit cliquey but 2nd visits were very different. You need to visit & find your feet. And hopefully you’ll love them as much as we do

Might help if you get a friend from fab to go with you?

I'm still planning my first trip to a club. Knowing someone there could help a lot of the initial nerves

You aren't that far from me, I go to Townhouse quite regularly, it's a great place and I've not experienced a clique. Would be happy to accompany you at somepoint

I've only ever been to Townhouse so I can't say how representative it is of clubs as a whole but I have always found it to be friendly and welcoming. There is also largely a lack of the latent threat of violence you get on a night out in a city centre.

However, you do need to appreciate that clubs can have a lot of regulars who know each other (very) well so it is possible to feel excluded if you don't know anyone and don't put the effort into speaking to people.
