Anyone got any recommendations on good products that can give the nice wavy beach look without the hair looking all fizzy and crap??

How do you deal with your waves?

Recently gone back brunette and cut my hair shorter and I’m loving to have a more wavey look (my natural hair tend to be wavey) but as I used to just pin straight my hair, I need to look into proper products

Suggest away !!

WSM

I’ve just started doing the curly girl method, it’s completely revived my curls after years of abuse with bleach and I have no frizz so even better than I’ve ever had it. Feel free to message if you want any more info, I use cantu products at the moment but will probably pay around with different brands as I run out

Curly girl method. As a rule of thumb, use less conditioning/moisturising than for curly hair, perhaps more protein. Use stronger hold products. Application gentler, as waves are more fragile than curls.

I have curly/wavy/frizzy hair.

Good luck, I just go with the dragged through a hedge look.

Hahah!! Mine is naturally wavy but I feel like with all the bleach and straightening, if I leave it wavy it just looks very messy and not as sleek as I’d like…

Think surfer chick kinda vibe

I spent years straightening mine. Last few years I just can't be arsed and go curly.

Ive tried all the products and ways of drying. I just don't think I have the patience for curly hair.

somewhere, someplace

Curly girl method or try a salt spray when it's damp

here & there

It sounds a bit minging - but don’t wash it as much as you would normally do, let the natural conditioning kick in after a couple of weeks & then wash it when it looks like it needs it.

Pro tip: brushing waves post styling fucks them up. Set it then *leave it*.

But then again I don’t want it exactly curly, just effortlessly wavey

God this is effort

I find my choices are between straight hair (does nothing for me, doesn't hold, and I'm not into fitting in with everyone else); short hair (doesn't suit me. Alas); frizz ball (when I'm not going out, this is my choice); or curly girl method.

Curly girl method is a lot of work but the least of some bad options. I gotta work with what my momma blessed me with

This is what works for me

Wash hair as normal, let it dry naturally until towel dry then whack some Argan Oil on the ends

I’m paying close attention to this post as this is a issue I also have ..Natural curly/wavy slightly frizzy and the straighteners are damaging my hair ..

I have very wavy, close to curly hair. I use shampoo with an oil element to it and a treatment mask every time I wash it. L'Oréal mythic oil as heat protection then blow dry with my Babyliss big hair unless I'm straightening it. For me this is the only way to control the frizz.

Anyone recommend some good CG approved protein products. Hair is way to moisturiser and needs a good protein treatment

So hair moisturisers are bad?

There's a woman I'm assuming is on Tik Tok who shows you how to get waves in your hair.

It looks quite simple.

She doesn't brush or blow-dry it after washing it and gently scrunches the hair as it's being washed and treated.

Not bad. Curly hair is the right combo of moisture and protein

I’ve been lazy and using a conditioner with no protein for too long. So I need to balance things out

Too much moisture = no curls, frizz, overly soft and fluffy

I have found that what looks quite simple on Tik Tok and YouTube does not translate as simple in my bedroom

Swing has good advice. She suggested I scrunch conditioner into the ends of my soaking wet wavy hair - it works really well. I don't blow dry, just let it dry.

I loved the Shea moisture one but I think they've discontinued it

Yup. I think, broadly speaking, tighter curl patterns need more moisture. Using strictly curly hair products makes my waves fall out. I deep condition very occasionally and am quite mindful of needing more protein in my hair.

lol this really is just a matter of washing the hair with a product and squeezing it upwards with your head upside-down while it dries. I'll try to find her on YouTube.

Tbh, I only understand what to do with my hair, don’t understand many other hair types. Even with my daughter I assumed she’d have curlier hair than she currently does (3a/2c) so I’m doing lots of learning so I’m not one of *those* parents.

Following this one as I have naturally wavy/curly hair too but it tends to get too frizzy a day or two after washing it (I tend to do this once or twice a week only).

Oh definitely. I sort of understand my hair by reference to curly hair. Because I started with stuff for curly hair and then slowly worked out how to make it work for me. Everything I say is in the vein of "take information on type 3 (curly) and this is what I've learned about how to apply it to my mostly 2b fine hair"

Mine is wavy but thick & frizzy! I use straighteners to curl it, wide plates so it’s not too curly!

Look into refreshing. Involves wetting it again but not a full wash day

As I am shampoo and conditioners are good. Little bit of leave in conditioner scrunched into soaking wet hair. I like flora curl curl activating lotion, again scrunched into soaking wet hair. You can use a gel over this if you want the curls/ waves really defined. Don't touch til it's dry then scrunch it till the crunch has gone. I seldom use gel as I prefer it a bit softer and don't mind a bit of frizz. Olaplex no.3 is really good too if your hair is bleached or dyed.

I will try this, thank you.

My get gets so frizzy a couple of days after washing it that, if I want my hair to look good for longer I just straighten it, which I know it is not great but it gives me a few days of peace IYKWIM

Yes, definitely. I tend to brush out (stretched waves but *shrug*) and apply hair oil (argan oil or a lightweight wavy hair oil, nothing heavy like for type 3/4 hair) to tame most of the frizz.
