I met her late in life when we were both mid 40s. Too late for her to have children and to be honest for me to entirely change my dishonest ways. But the time we have spent together has been great. The best times of my life in fact.

It’s those little things. Sharing a view of the country, Sitting on a bus or discovering a fab little restaurant somewhere that make a huge difference to single life. To see someone appreciate your cooking, your garden and your ever listening ear.

To see that same person look suddenly lost, directionless and fearful is a sad sight. You notice the things untouched and the things that were once lovingly cared for now somewhat neglected. Their life is on hold.

Tomorrow we visit the hospital for the scan. I am optimistic but worried. My wife is together but quietly scared. We both pray that lump in the chest is not a harbinger of a more serious malady.

It’s not the first time I’ve experienced someone close get ill but the first for someone so close and who puts up with my odd little ways. Who loves me like no other has.

Oh my lovely I'm so so sorry to see what you are both going through.

I have made that dame trip with a partner to get results from a biopsy and it is tertifying.

I hope and wish for the best eat if outcomes.
