"Well the ticket alone will set you back roughly £300 for 5 days including camping. Once you’re there I’d say £100 per day, if you’re buying food, drink and any band merch. If you don’t drink or by mech then a 3rd of that would cover you. Going with mates and booking a local travel lodge is more comfortable than camping, again it’s all personal choices and added cost. " I was reckoning I was gonna need a grand all in. I don't wanna have to miss out on things I wanna do when there due to lack of funds. I do wanna camp, was thinking do my own brekkie (if up to it, don't really do food in the mornings) and a pot noodle when back if I'm hungry but I can totally go one meal a day as that's what I'm currently used to anyway. Plus I know I'm not gonna wanna go poo and struggle to shit anywhere other than at home so will likely be backed up and not wanting to eat anyway.

"Today may not be the best day to post this. Many will have travelled back today after camping since Wednesday so may be fast asleep in bed. I'll send a message to another forum user who went he'll let you know, once he recovers " Much appreciated

"No idea about festivals but maybe look up savings accounts with good interest rates. Money Saving Expert has good info. Every little helps. Some do extra interest when you scrape the pennies into a savings account. Like pay 90p for something and the bank auto transfers the 10p into your savings. Maybe go with friends and share a tent and travel? And have a fucking blast. Xx " My plan was to pay all my bills on payday then send anything left to the boy child to look after. Yes it'll be a cunt of a year with no takeaways but needs must.

" The one thing to consider is the extra weight you’ll need to lug with you, especially if you are planning to cook. If your planning a grand all in I’d say buy a breakfast each morning, saves the much hassle of taking food and cooking stuff. Pop an anti poop pill each morning and keep an eye on the time the loos get emptied. It’s normally the same times each day. So if you do need to go, atleast you can get in first. You’ll have an absolute blast if you haven’t been before.

"So, I'm looking at doing 5 days next year. Was just wanting to brain pick those who've done it as to how much its gonna set me back. I've got a year to save, which sounds like ages until you see how little I earn! "

"The one good thing about being old is how cheap gigs used to be. Went Monsters of Rock at Donnington most years. In 1980 did Monsters of Rock be Saturday and all weekend at Reading the following week. Total cost including camping …. £20" Good call. I have a lot of the music from 1980 either on tape or in Rainbows case, an edited down vhs recording. I went to 1984 Donnington which was a hot day and some great bands.

I've got a year to save, which sounds like ages until you see how little I earn! " Ok, so I got back yesterday after doing the full 5 this year. Price wise this is a rough breakdown of how much it cost me. Ticket £270 Parking pass £20 Drinks on Wednesday and Thursday £30 Food £150 Merch and other bits £100 This was on top of the food and drink I brought with me. Food prices from the vendors is pretty high, £7 for a toastie or equivalent, £10-15 for a takeaway meal, £4 for a basic coffee… although did find a place doing half chicken, potatoes, stuffing and gravy for £12 on the Sunday which was probably the best value meal I found all week. I bought drinks at the bar in the Village area on Wednesday and Thursday, but not many because it was £5.60 for a can (no pints). There was an on site co-op however that was doing 4 for £6, they also do pretty much everything a normal co-op sells including fruit and sandwiches etc and was really reasonably priced and decent quality. I don’t drink in the arena usually, too busy seeing bands etc. But expect long bar queues and I think it was about £6.50 a pint. You can’t (or not supposed to at least) bring your own alcohol into the arena, only sealed soft drinks or empty water bottles (there are free drinking water stations for refills). I’d imagine prices next year will be slightly higher as early bird tickets have already gone on sale discounted to this years prices. Personally if you like a drink then definitely bring your own to the campsite, the bars are pricey I can give plenty more tips and info if you want. Can message you to save clogging the thread if you want!
