Shirley pup update

Just got back from the vets, hes not sure what the problem is, but has given her,.an anti sickness and antibiotic injections, worming stuff on back of neck,.syrup to stop acid production in her stomach. If shes no better this evening or tomorrow have to take her to emergency vet hospital for investigations

68quid lighter, but shes worth it, clsim off her insurance

Good luck we are still in the process of getting our cats "over active thyroid" sorted - he has to have 3 weekly blood tests and is currently on tablets twice a day ....... thank god for pet insurance huh ..

Yes worth every penny... it's awful when you don't know what the problem is.. Bless her and I bet she's feeling sorry for herself.

Hope your puppy gets better soon. I have a puppy too and would hate it if he wasn't well.

I really SHOULD get insurance sorted for both him and my cat though ... last week the mog fell off a wall and got tangled up in wire (was dangling upside down by his back leg). I seriously thought he'd broken it going by the noise he was making and the position it was in.

Once freed, a trip to the vets showed it was soft tissue injury. Three injections and some medicine later and I went home £80 lighter - but it could have been much worse. Last year he fell out of a tree and it cost £600 to put him right. As cats go, he's a bit hopeless.

Shes 71/2 been insured since the day we had her, this mornings cost will only cover the excess, but if she needs further treatment its covered

Insurance is deffo the right way - the cat is 12 and he will now have this for the rest of his life, but being an overactive thyroid he could have an operation as he is only insured for £4000 worth or 12 months (Note: always check your insurance) - once they have stabilised the cat then the vet will consider the operation depending on how often he needs blood tests and which drug suits him - we have had two different ones so far and he is still being sick and losing weight .....

Ours is for life, even if its a long term condition, unlimited amount, but costs us 35 piund a month

yep its something I think I had on the previous insurance - and now bitterly regret changing when there was a lack of money coming in to a policy that had a different small print but - there might be a silver lining in the cloud here - it might not be as expensive to keep him on tablets as the really expensive ones he couldnt tolerate - although they did the trick - the cheaper ones he is less sick - just hope he has now put some weight on - and then the blood testing can be reduced in frequency to maybe 3-6 monthly which would be less drain on finances - or the operation (which the vet has promised to do before the 12 months runs out if its needed) ...... such a worry isnt it when your pet isnt well - I hope they get your pet sorted soon xx

A few years ago my cat fell out of a tree during the night and hit a brick wall. Found him in the morning with an obvious broken leg and other injuries. Thank god for pet insurance as his injuries were so bad he had to go to a private specialist vet and total bill came to £6000!!!
