In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

"Reports that I've cream vans cannot afford the fuel to keep their I've cream cool and the trade is going to die out..

At a guess... I'd say that the price of fuel means that it costs more to run an ice cream van.

You're welcome.

I'd say petrol prices are pushing up the costs of running ice cream vans.

They should just modify an electric milk float.

No more fuel issues.

This is a serious problem for ice cream vans who need the diesel to run the engines that power the fridge and freezers.

I can see a time when all ice cream vans will be using a separate diesel generator outside, running on much cheaper red diesel.

You can’t buy red diesel anymore.

I never knew that.

Maybe they'll shift over to LPG before that fossil fuel gets outlawed next.

Nationwide Fuels has a whole page to explain what is going on at the moment and talks about HVO aka artificial diesel..

Business usually dictates that If costs go up it gets passed onto the consumer - so basically more expensive ice creams!

Tell me about it. If fuel prices go any higher I'll be forced to start drinking vodka again.

Oh, crap. I meant whisky...

There is always a way to beat the system. Buy diesel at the pumps and add a couple of drops of red food dye..

Hey Presto..

Ice cream van drivers are very territorial.

I came across a couple arguing once, one threatened the other with a hammer. Soon backed off when the other guy pulled out a Magnum!
