If a train leaves Liverpool bound for London travelling at a consistent speed of 100 mph at 10.00 am, and a train leaves London bound for Liverpool at the same time travelling at a consistent 125mph, where will they cross if the total journey is 250 miles?

They won't as parts of the junctions leaving those stations would cause a major derailment at those speeds.
