Vegans have better memories than meat-eaters

A new study from Birkbeck University has revealed that following a vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian diet boosts the memory compared to meat treats like sausages and beef burgers.

Previous studies have found numerous links between diet and physical and mental performance.

In the research, experts set out to evaluate the effects that diet can have on memory and sleep quality. A group of 62 adults aged 40 and over were recruited and their memories were assessed using the California Verbal Learning Test - one of the most widely-used neurological tests.

Pinar Sengul, who led the study, said: "Adherence to a plant-based rather than a meat-based diet results in improved short-term verbal memory.

"A vegan diet is associated with superior cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions.

"Mediterranean diets (high fruit and vegetable content) are linked with reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases and improved performance on cognitive."

Food for thought......

That's obvious.

They don't have to remember all those lovely steaks they've eaten so have space for other memories.

"I read this somewhere before but I can’t remember where"

Lolz.

I was expecting this to be sponsored by Linda McCartney Sausages or some vegan food company but nope. No conflicts of interests declared in the paper and compensation payments to the 62 (wow what a huge sample!) participants came directly from the Uni.

I'm sceptical, particularly given the small sample size.

That and because bacon tastes good.....

Surely this cannot be true. If vegans have good memories then why do they forget that they tell me they are vegan and then continually tell me they are vegan...

Also only looked at short term verbal memory, a very narrow measure of what we mean by "memory". They remembered some words over a relatively short period. How did the control for natural variation in memory? Age? Etc.

If being a vegan means no animal products, does that mean you shouldn't suck cock, eat pussy or swallow cum?

Theres also papers out there saying meat eaters have better memories due to the creatine in meat boosting brains or something or another

More importantly, do vegans have more sex?

Or do they start more often, and collapse with exhaustion after a couple of minutes?

A bit contradictory though isn’t it - since a Mediterranean diet is not vegan or vegetarian

Not a single top of the food chain athlete is vegan, despite what the documentaries say, we aren’t built for it, it makes sense in so many ways and there will be outliers who can perform very well on a vegan diet but the majority of us will underperform, there’s no study for that because the sandal wearing do gooders don’t want you to know that, there’s countless studies stating mushrooms also perform the same mental capacity increase too but noooooooooo one wants to talk about that either as there is no real money in mushrooms, off I trot
