When I was 18 I au paired in Spain for my gap year. Then uni for four years but I was going back home in the holidays. So properly moved out when I bought my first flat and started my first job when I was 23.

My daughters are 28 and 24 and love living at home still.

33 I had saved enough to put a deposit down in 96 and I had to redecorate everything from top to bottom

19 and the best move I ever made. Getting on the property ladder was easy back in the mid-1980’s. I don’t envy anyone who is making that jump these days!

Easy in mid 80s ? Really mass unemployment

No jobs but yes houses were affordable if you had a job

I had a job and the deposit needed was a pittance compared with what you need today. My grandparents paid it for me, I was very fortunate really.

My first place was a small flat in Birmingham that cost £17K. I loved it and the freedom it gave me. Looking back, I think they encouraged me to move out to make me grow up and be responsible. How little they knew

18, moved back in at 21, still here

If I don't have enough to buy by the end of the year I'm biting the bullet and wasting my money on rent.

Can’t explain it as good as Russel Kane. But basically that crying on mum’s kitchen floor because it’s all gone to shit and you need to stay at home again for a bit. The specifics of the crying over a break up or whatever aren’t key to it I don’t think
