Fareham

Went to a country butchers yesterday to find planning details posted outside and areas fenced off. More housing to be built just like in several other places en-route all over fields and farms.

People have to have houses but here in Hampshire the country seems doomed. Outside Basingstoke a huge development is planned . Can it, should it go on?

I understand the need for more houses, some developers have built on the south of our Quant village, every house has been built in a 1930s style so it doesnt look out of place. And has bought small family run businesses into the area, its certainly not lost its feel.

The back of my home & horse shoed around the village is my dads farming fields and aslong as im alive they will never be sold to developers no matter how many millions have been offered.

London is overcrowded and they're running out of space to build.

People keep complaining that areas outside of London aren't invested in, and now they are, people still moan.

Unless we keep building up and forcing people back into concrete jungles, green areas will be lost.

Housing has been about profit and not people, so they'll keep building so the profits keep coming.

Barking and Dagenham has over 5000 families on the housing waiting list with around three to four hundred properties becoming vacant each year.

That's just one London Borough.

Really? If anything, we should have less dependency on big cities and denser populations.

I lived in New York City for several years, and London, so have good experience of living in towers (New York). But working from home and having vibrant villages / towns is a better way forward.

There is a shortage of housing, which pushes prices up … building and moving away from cities would release some of that upward pressure
